How to set a private search engine as your default
Most searches start in the address bar, so the default search engine decides who records them. Switching takes under a minute in every major browser.

Chrome and Edge
- -Open Settings, then Search engine.
- -Choose Manage search engines and add a new one with the private engine's address.
- -Select Make default.
Safari on Mac and iPhone
- -On Mac, open Safari Settings, then Search, and pick an engine.
- -On iPhone, open Settings, Safari, Search Engine.
- -Safari offers a fixed list, so you can also bookmark your private engine's home page.
Firefox and Android
- -In Firefox open Settings, Search, and choose the default.
- -On Android Chrome, tap the menu, Settings, Search engine.
- -Add DeepIncognito to your home screen for one-tap private search.
